A BRIEF HISTORY ABOUT THE RANCH NAME:
The ranch is named after a Ute social ceremony that dates back to the 15th century - when the first thunder was heard in spring it was time for the Bear Dance. At the end of the four day dance, parts of the costumes would be left behind on the tree as a way of leaving troubles behind and starting life fresh. Ute storytellers say that the dance and song were taught to a young hunter by a bear. They remind listeners that the ceremony shows respect for the strong bear spirit and such respect makes one strong.
Which is why the Bear Dance name is so apt for this estate. This ranch is meant to show respect for the spirit of the bear and all things wild in this mountain haven. And, with a bit of good fortune, that offer of respect for the natural world will strengthen those that tend to this land. |
